"I work at United Way of Quinte to support the partnership with the Quinte Labour Council. United Way and Labour have a shared history of supporting community organizations that enhance the quality of life in our community."

Labour and the United Way
Labour shares in the United Way’s goal of improving lives and building community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. Our partnership in April 2006 with United Way of Quinte has led to the creation of a Labour Community Services staff position, a Workers’ Help Centre and active participation in some key community issues such as affordable housing, employment supports and poverty.
When our members give to the United Way, they can be assured that their money is used by their community to support services that are essential to our quality of living. These programs and services cover Quinte West, Prince Edward County, the city of Belleville, Centre and and North Hastings.
We encourage you to have a union presence in this campaign, both by your own initiatives and generosity as well as by encouraging donations from members of your local and asking them to become involved as volunteers.
As unions we can continue to make a meaningful contribution to overcoming inequality and achieving more social justice in our communities.
I believe in my community. I believe that its success depends on the people who live in it. That everyone has something to contribute. That everyone deserves respect. That everyone’s potential can be realized. That diversity is vital. That every person has value. That everyone needs help and everyone can offer help. That a safe, supportive community is everyone’s responsibility. I believe in possibility.
